A couple of weeks ago I met up with a member of LiveWell Dorset.
LiveWell Dorset is a service which can support all adults in Dorset and is funded by Public Health Dorset. They support anyone on their journey towards a happier, healthier you. They have 4 key areas of focus:
- Get active
- Lose weight
- Stop smoking
- Drink Less
They use evidence-based behavioural science to support you to sustain healthy behaviour changes – from small nudges to personalised one-to-one coaching. You can refer yourself or ask a health professional and they might refer you if you’d like.
We decided to meet up after following each other on social media and being local to each other with similar interests. As I’ve mentioned on my Instagram page, whilst connecting with like minded people on social media is one of my favourite aspects of having started The Lifestyle Pill, I’ve recently been trying to take these new connections offline where possible. The power of human connection ‘IRL’, sharing thoughts and ideas and inspiring each other is incredible. See my recent blog on the power of connection here.
It was such an uplifting and inspiring meeting. We talked a lot about behaviour change, such as how to support patients/clients when making healthy lifestyle changes, the BSLM #1change campaign and SMART goals. Other things we discussed ranged from the societal culture in relation to alcohol, and the pressures someone can face when trying to reduce or eliminate alcohol, to the power of nature on our health and wellbeing.
At the end of our chat we did a short Q&A! This was impromptu and unscripted with me in the hot seat! This is the first time I’ve done something like this but am so pleased I took the plunge and went slightly out of my comfort zone as I loved it! My answers weren’t polished and I can see areas for improvement but I am so thankful for the skill and time given from the team at LiveWell who created this short video from some of the Q&A:
We also talked about potential ways to take our partnership between LiveWell Dorset and The Lifestyle Pill further. We have a really exciting project in the works – stay tuned!
